Man arrested for hacking Twitter accounts of politicians and celebrities

A 22-year-old British citizen has been arrested in Spain and accused of being involved in the hacking of politicians’ and celebrities’ Twitter accounts a year ago. The arresting was announced by the US Justice Department.

The department said he was arrested “on multiple charges in connection with the July 2020 hack of Twitter that resulted in the compromise of over 130 Twitter accounts, including those belonging to politicians, celebrities and companies.”

The hack was aimed at cryptocurrency exchanges, Apple, Uber and a mix of accounts, including those of politicians like Barack Obama and Joe Biden, businessmen like Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Elon Musk and celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Kayne West.
