Tinder CEO going to Yahoo

Dating service Tinder’s CEO, Jim Lanzone, will be Yahoo’s new CEO. Lanzone, who is former head of CBS Interactive, is taking up the position on September 27.

Private equity firm Apollo Global Management recently bought Verizon Media and renamed it Yahoo for USD 5 billion. Yahoo has been changing owners earlier after for many years having been one of the big online brands. Yahoo was in 2017 bought by Verizon Communications for USD 4.5 billion

Lanzone takes over for former Verizon Media chief Guru Gowrappan, who has been named a senior adviser to Apollo Group’s private equity business.

Under Apollo’s ownership, Yahoo said it intends to “invest significantly in the user experience and develop exciting new offerings” across its brand verticals including sports, finance, news and technology.
