Spotify says “Nostalgia” is the 2021 trend
Nostalgia played a role in people’s listening in 2021 as fans rediscovered old favourites—and new generations adopted them as well, Spotify said in an early summary of 2021.
With ratings based on how more than 381 million people around the world listened, the company said that for the second year in a row, Puerto Rican Reggaeton star Bad Bunny was the most-streamed artist in the world. He received over 9.1 billion streamings without releasing a new album this year.
Number two was singer-songwriter Taylor Swift and number three was k-pop group BTS.
