Ladies Hacking Society

Geographical Area: UK | Business Area: IT

Ladies of London Hacking Society (LLHS) is a pioneering social enterprise providing offensive & defensive technical security skills development for women interested in cybersecurity. Their ethos is women-centric, not women exclusive.

They support their growing community through events, online platforms, social media, mentorship, awards, publications, opportunities, and more. Their focus is on building technical skills in a safe and welcoming environment, across all levels of competency, to support the development of female cybersecurity leaders.

LLHS is at the forefront of creating and advocating for women in cyber.

WHY LHS?

Women currently comprise roughly 20% of cybersecurity professionals in the workplace. In order to meet the current and projected cyber skills shortage, as well as to keep up with a rapidly changing industry, it is critical to bring a holistic and diverse range of people and skills to cyber professions.

SOCIAL ENTERPRISE

Eliza-May Austin states “a reason for the group’s founding ‘was to provide the opportunity and welcoming space for women of all skill levels to develop and hone the technical skills critical for success in cyber”. Originally a few ladies meeting up wherever they could find space and learning how to ‘hack’, the demand for more services has led LHS to become a leading society in Cyber Security and spans multiple chapters nationwide.

MAKING WAVES IN THE INDUSTRY

The interest from the information security and business community alike has been outstanding, with companies such as Immersive Labs, Just Eat, Facebook and more looking to support the society’s growth and provide women with opportunities to pursue successful technical careers in cybersecurity.
