Presenting a new tool for analysing social welfare in EU regions
Are people’s lives getting better over generations? Can policies improve our lives and welfare? Are we measuring the right things? These are important questions that both academics and policymakers seek to answer in order to design and implement policies that will reduce welfare disparities across European regions.
On Wednesday, 2 March 2022 (17.00- 18.30 CET), a panel of well-versed speakers will shed light on these issues in the online workshop “Assessing welfare disparities in European regions: Policy challenges and opportunities”, co-hosted by KMOP Policy Center and Ethos Lab – Centre for Governance and Sustainability Research.
Panelists include Mikuláš Dzurinda, President of the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies, former Prime Minister of Slovakia, Henrietta Moore, Professor, University College London, Founder and Director of Institute for Global Prosperity, and Paul Dolan, Professor, London School of Economics and Political Science.
During the event, for the first time, a new tool for measuring social welfare in EU regions will be presented in its beta version; the innovative Reframing Welfare Index, that was developed by KMOP Policy Center and Ethos Lab. RWI is a composite index that aims to map and analyse social welfare in EU regions and could enhance the way we design, implement, and evaluate policies.
