YouTube new rules for ads about politics and alcohol
YouTube is introducing stricter rules for ads and will no longer allow political or election ads in the masthead spot at the top of the site’s homepage nor ads for alcohol, gambling and prescription drugs.
“We regularly review our advertising requirements to ensure they balance the needs of both advertisers and users. We believe this update will build on changes we made last year to the masthead reservation process and will lead to a better experience for users,” the company said.
The company has informed advertisers that the change is in line with the decision last year to stop all full-day masthead ads and replace them with more targeted formats.
