Clubhouse allows recording

Clubhouse changing mind about recordings

The audio platform Clubhouse announced in a blogpost that they are soon going to allow recordings on the platform, which is a big change as one of the sales arguments of Clubhouse has earlier been that you cannot be recorded and/or quoted afterward.

The feature is called ‘Replays’ and it is announced as a way for creators to keep promoting their work after the session will be over, to grow their audience over time and increase discoverability. The company will roll out access to the creators and community members already in October, but will keep testing and developing the feature ‘in the wild’.

Together with ‘Replays’, Clubhouse announced the beta launch of a feature called ‘Clips’, a type of audio snippet of 30 seconds duration that creators can use to promote their club on the internet.

And last but not least, they released a necessary functional search feature called ‘Universal Search’, so that users can look for rooms that interest them.

Clubhouse was launched as an invitation-only beta in July 2020, and removed the waiting list ‘wall’ one year later.
