Donald Trump launching his social media app
Ex-president Donald Trump’s social media Truth Social has launched with the app available on Apples App Store. Trump had his accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc blocked after the Capitol Hill riots on January 6 last year as the media companies considered him guilty of inciting violence.
Trump has said Truth Social will “stand up to the tyranny of big tech”. A press release said “we live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced. This is unacceptable.”
TRUTH Social was created through a new company formed by a merger of the Trump Media and Technology Group and a special acquisition company (SPAC).
Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) is led by former Republican Representative Devin Nunes,
The company has said its mission is to create a rival to the liberal media consortium and fight back against the “Big Tech” companies of Silicon Valley, which have used their unilateral power to silence opposing voices in America.”
The app had been available for a while prior to launch but only for specially invited users.
