Google search flirting with individual journalists
Google is trying out a new feature intended to showcase more of the content from individual journalists. Google is attributing this new feature to their ambition to fight misinformation and support a quality news ecosystem.
As it is now, when people google a certain journalist, they might get οn the top of the results a box with information about the person; in addition to that, Google is testing now a new carousel that will include some of the published articles written by that journalist.
The aim this that the reader will be able to understand more about the person, they type of journalism they represent, the topics they cover, their views etc…
Currently the feature is in trial in the U.S., only in the English language and for a very limited number of journalists, while the company is obviously trying to optimise the sourcing of the most relevant content, while they are welcoming users to give feedback.
