HuffPost getting new editor-in-chef after cut-downs
Danielle Belton, editor-in-chief of The Root, will take up the position as editor-in-chief of HuffPost. The publication was last year bought by BuzzFeed and its CEO Jonah Peretti recently announced a number of cut-downs to improve HuffPost´s economy; Canadian edition closed, lay-offs at the US edition and cut-downs at the UK edition.
The position as editorial head of HuffPost has been vacant for quite some time after Lydia Polgreen a year ago left to join Gimlet Media. She took over as editor-in-chief after founder Arianna Huffington in 2016.
Belton launched her own blog, The Black Snob, in 2007 and wrote for theGrio, Essence, Washington Post and New York Times. In 2015, she joined The Root, African American oriented online magazine.
