Man jailed for 15 years for murdering Maltese journalist

One of three men accused of assassinating investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia in Malta three years ago has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. After many hearings, he suddenly pleaded guilty, the BBC reported.

A bomb had been placed in Galizia´s car and it exploded just after she had left her home. Galizia wrote about corruption in Malta and abroad.

Many suspect the killing was ordered by top Malta establishment figures.

The two other suspects were also in the court room but did not speak.

Former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat resigned in December 2019 after an investigation implicated his close associates in the murder.
