Second lawsuit against Fox for claiming vote-rigging

Dominion Voting Systems has filed a defamation lawsuit against Fox News saying the channel promoted baseless claims of vote-rigging. Dominion is demanding USD 1.6 billion compensation. This is the second lawsuit filed against Fox for similar claims. Smartmatic has earlier sued Fox Corporation and several top presenters for USD 2.7 billion over similar claims.

Conservatives had accused Dominion of having made changes in its voting machines to stop Donald Trump from being re-elected.

Fox News said the lawsuit is baseless and that the company would fight it in court.

The lawsuit argues that Fox News hosted guests presenting anti-Dominion conspiracy theories during the 2020 election because “the lies were good for Fox’s business”.

“Fox News Media is proud of our 2020 election coverage, which stands in the highest tradition of American journalism, and we will vigorously defend against this baseless lawsuit in court,” the media company said in a statement.
