
Taboola News on Xiaomi smartphones’ lock-screen
Content recommendation platform Taboola announced a strategic partnership with Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi to host Taboola News on their lock-screens.
Taboola News resources news content from Taboola’s publisher network to directly offer recommendations on smartphones and web browsers globally; Xiaomi will integrate these recommendations on the lock screen of more than 100 million overseas smartphones, according to company estimations.
Both companies refer to a ‘long-term strategic partnership’, but the length of the agreement was not specified.
“At a time when more people are reading news on mobile devices than ever before, we are pleased to partner with Xiaomi, a global technology leader… Our partnership adds Taboola News to millions of new devices and we are honored Xiaomi have placed their long-term trust in us to deliver a positive user experience for their customers,” said Adam Singolda, CEO and founder, Taboola.
“Our customer base is diverse and lives across more than 60 markets, which means the ability to offer content catered to their interests is a powerful one” said Chan Liu, General Manager of Global Internet Business, Xiaomi.
Taboola News is used by digital properties, including websites, devices and mobile apps, to drive monetization and user engagement. The company has long-term partnerships with some of the top digital properties in the world, including CNBC, BBC, NBC News, Business Insider, The Independent and El Mundo.
A similar service is used by Samsung, a news service based on publishers rrs feeds and curated by Upday, an Axel Springer owned app.
