Highlighting the critical importance of credible journalism in providing trustworthy information is the mission for the World News Day that is celebrated globally by media on September 28. “Credible journalism matters if people are to make informed decisions about our future.”
The World News Day is celebrated the same day as UNESCO’s International Day for Universal Access to Information.
World News Day is a global campaign to display support for journalists and audiences, say the organisers – World Editors Forum and Canadian Journalism Foundation.
The climate is the focus for the World News Day 2022.
“Covid-19 taught us that we are all connected and it has shown how focused journalism can make a difference. We face a common threat in the degradation of our planet and it is a universal theme we can use to demonstrate why #JournalismMatters.
World News Day is the focus of a 90-minute live-streamed event from The World News Media Congress in Zaragoza, Spain, at 15:00 CET on September 28.
