Amazon investing billions in Spanish data centres

Amazon Web Services announced it is investing Euro 2.5 billion in new data centres in the Aragon-region in Spain.

The investment is for a period of ten years and the centres will be ready in mid-2022, the company said. The investment includes capital expenditure, the construction of the centres, imports of equipment and operating expenses such as the salaries of1 300 employees the company plans to hire there.

The centres will be built so the company can host data in Spain.
