Apple revenue up 29% but lack of chips persists
Apple reported revenue record of USD 83.4 billion for the quarter ending September, up 29% year over year. CEO Tim Cook returned to his earlier warning about effects of global shortage of computer chips saying there had been larger than expected constraints and that the shortage is affecting most of the company´s products.
Cook also referred to manufacturing difficulties in Southeast Asia because of the pandemic but noted there was now a significant improvement. However, the lack of chips has persisted, he said.
“Our record September quarter results capped off a remarkable fiscal year of strong double-digit growth, during which we set new revenue records in all of our geographic segments and product categories in spite of continued uncertainty in the macro environment,” said Luca Maestri, Apple’s CFO.
