Facebook and Instagram fighting antivaxxers

Facebook has started adding labels to posts about covid vaccination. The labels will to start with be on post that discuss the safety of covid vaccination and will later be on all posts about the vaccines. The social media company has earlier been criticized for spreading antivaxxer arguments.

Facebook said it is launching a tool in the US to give people information about where to get covid vaccines. Facebook-owned Instagram will also add a covid information area, Facebook announced in a blog post.

To Facebook and Instagram posts that discuss the safety of covid vaccines will be added text saying the vaccines go through safety and effectiveness tests before approval.

“Today we’re launching a global campaign to help bring 50 million people a step closer to getting Covid-19 vaccines”, Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, said in the blog post.

“We’ve already connected over 2 billion people to authoritative Covid-19 information. Now that many countries are moving towards vaccinations for all adults, we’re working on tools to make it easier for everyone to get vaccinated as well.”
