Facebook beats revenue expectations but warns for growth slowdown
Facebook said it expects Apple’s recent update of the iOS software for iPhones to have a negative impact on advertising revenue and warned it expects revenue growth to “decelerate significantly” in the third quarter. For the second quarter, the company reported revenues above expectations.
Apple‘s updated iOS includes a privacy setting and for targeted ads from for instance Facebook, phone users must activate targeting. In earlier software versions the device was delivered with the targeting activated.
Monthly active users were reported to be 2.90 billion, up 7% from the same period last year.
Total revenue was up 56% to USD 29.08 billion in the second quarter from USD 18.69 billion a year earlier.
The company also announced that US staff returning to the office must be vaccinated against Covid-19 following the same rules as for instance Google has announced earlier.
