Introduction to Podcasting is a 2-days online workshop, that focuses on the skills required to create short radio packages or podcasts.
Podcasts and online audio are at the heart of the business of digital media. With audiences flocking to the medium in record numbers and radio listening on connected devices at an all-time high, there’s never been a better time to learn about and create audio.
Attendees will learn how to tailor content for a specific audience, then record, edit and publish it online. They will gain skills in interviewing, script writing and delivery, and the use of music and sound effects. Participants will leave equipped with both editorial and technical knowledge to support their work in creating audio packages and podcasts.
The workshop is organized by Journalism.co.uk , a website with news and advertorial content for journalists based in Brighton, United Kingdom. The training will focus on the latest tools and techniques with an emphasis on practical, hands-on learning.
The course is divided into two sessions:
- Podcasting overview
- Writing, delivering and recording scripts
- Conducting podcast interviews
- Use of music and sound effects
- Recording – including remote interview recording
- Editing and mixing – practical demonstration
- Getting your podcast out there and getting it noticed
The tutor of the workshop is Jack Soper , a producer and consultant with over 20 years of experience. He works for the BBC and a range of commercial and private clients. His work has been recognised with wins at the New York Festival Radio Awards and the Sony Radio Academy Awards.
The cost for the workshop is £229.17 (plus VAT) for both days and will take place as two online sessions running 10.30am to 1pm BST on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 June 2022. Start and end times may vary due to scheduling.
