Jeff Bezos investing in sports and entertainment startup

Amazon’s Jeff Bezos’ private investment company is among investors in sports media and entertainment startup Overtime. The company reports it has raised USD 80 million in funding from a diverse investor group that includes at least 25 active and former NBA players have invested in the company, variety.com reports.

Overtime plans to use the latest funding to build internal capabilities around NFTs (non-fungible tokens), trading cards and sports betting features tailored to younger sports fans. In addition, Overtime will continue investing in its sports app, which provides stats, scores, analysis, humour, culture and other content.

Overtime said it will use also the fresh capital to fund its expansion into new areas, including the debut of a high-school basketball league later this year. The company was founded in 2016, has earlier raised more than USD 140 million and has 125 employees.
