Cassette with unpublished John Lennon song sold at auction

Unpublished John Lennon song sold at auction

Once they were high tech but are rarely seen now – cassette tapes. At an auction in Copenhagen, Denmark an unknown buyer paid 370 000 Danish crowns (close to Euro 50 000) for a cassette where the late Beatle star John Lennon sings an apparently unpublished song, and is interviewed by four Danish teenagers for a school paper.

The recording, made on January 5, 1970, includes Lennon and wife Yoko Ono talking about being in Denmark and world peace. They also sing Give Peace a Chance.

The cassette plus 29 photos was put up for sale by Bruun Rasmussen Auctioneer in Copenhagen. For sale was also a copy of the school newspaper for which the teenagers made the interview.

Karsten Hoejen told Associated Press he made the recording on a tape recorder borrowed from the local hi-fi shop.

The auction house said  buyer cannot be named but revealed that she/he is not Danish.
