World leaders are competing in promoting safe artificial intelligence. Just days before the UK prime minister, Rishi Sunak, was hosting an AI summit, US president, Joe Biden, published his Executive Order on Safe AI. The London meeting agreed on a declaration on AI safety saying AI should be designed, developed, deployed, and used, in a manner that is safe, in such a way as to be human-centric, trustworthy and responsible. 

The Israel-Gaza war has become the deadliest period for journalists covering conflict since the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) began documenting journalist fatalities in 1992. CPJ says at least 36 journalists and media workers are among an estimated 10,000 killed since the war began on October 7. 

There is a lack of AI technicians. 2015-2022, AI jobs globally grew 9 times for Tech-AI jobs and 11.3 times for Broad-AI ones, while IT sector jobs rose 3.7 times and the number of total jobs advertised grew 2.7 times. Asia stands out as the region with the highest growth surpassing Northern Europe, researchers from consultancy Citi GPS, London School of Economics and University of Oxford write in report “Skills that pay. The return from specific skills as demanded in job advertisements”.

Worldwide spending on AI solutions will grow to more than $500 billion in 2027. Most organizations will increase technology investments toward AI implementation and adoption of AI-enhanced products/services but there is also a risk for uncontrolled cost increases and loss of data control, International Data Corporation top 10 predictions on IT shows.
