Amazon fined Euro 1.13 billion for abuse of dominance
Italy’s antitrust authority has fined Amazon Italy Euro 1.13 billion saying the company has abused its market dominance and harmed competitors in e-commerce logistics services.
The authority said Amazon holds a position of absolute market dominance which has allowed it to favour its own services and harming competing operators to strengthen its dominant position.
The conclusion by the authority is that Amazon Italia Services and Amazon Italia Logistica have violated art. 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
Within a month, the authority has fined Amazon and Apple a total of Euro 203 million for alleged anti-competitive cooperation and Google and Apple Euro 10 million each for information deficiencies and aggressive use of consumer data.
