STEM Women
STEM Women run free events for female students and graduates studying STEM subjects to network with the top STEM employers and hear from inspiring female STEM role models.
STEM Women is privately owned and operates from offices within the Tempest Building in Liverpool. Since its initial assignment in 2016, STEM Women has assisted over 180 graduate employers, helping companies attract female applicants to their graduate scheme, internship and placement opportunities.
Building a community: attracting female STEM students
“The key to our growth has been our ability to grow a community of female students and recent graduates from courses with a gender imbalance. We have reached out to university departments and targeted computer science, engineering, data science, mathematics, physics and related disciplines,” STEM Women say.
They now run events in every UK region, providing employers with the opportunity to network with female students in a careers fair format. They have brought in renowned keynote speakers to ensure that their events inspire the attendees. Their events have resulted in hundreds of graduate hires.
STEM Women in numbers
STEM Women’s community continues to evolve across all of its channels. Over 9,000 users follow their Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn pages, while over 3,000 students have attended a STEM Women event in the past twelve months.
Most of their events take place in October and November to coincide with the graduate recruitment season. STEM Women have held events in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Bristol to date.
