Study: Female majority in marketing
Women are the majority in top marketing positions! 56 per cent of senior-level marketers are women, according to a survey by US-based Association of National Advertisers (ANA). The survey comprised 870 ANA member companies.
Among the ANA member chief marketing officers, 52 per cent of the top marketer positions are female, a percentage that increased from 47 per cent in 2019 and 45 per cent in 2018.
At senior level among the 40 ANA board of directors and other member companies, 56 per cent are female, an increase from 52 per cent in 2019 and 46 per cent in 2018.
67 per cent of 30 940 individual ANA members are women and 33 per cent men.
Women comprise the majority of the marketing industry’s workforce — 63 per cent according to the ANA board and other member study and 67 percent in the analysis of the ANA overall membership. Both figures are increases since last year.
Entry-level professional and mid-level lower-end marketers are both almost two-thirds female.
The survey concludes that the industry needs to better understand why more young men are not entering (or remaining in) the marketing industry.
