YouTube wants to benefit more from live shopping
Live shopping on social media started booming during the pandemic when people could not go to the shops and the popularity is just increasing also now when societies and shops have opened up. YouTube has decided that it wants to benefit even more from this trend and announced live shopping pop-ups with celebrities and creators for Christmas shopping.
Livestreaming is increasingly becoming shopping-focused with creators going live to review products, promote products, and discuss their shopping.
“We’ve seen creators expand beyond the screen and into consumer products, many of which you can already find on their YouTube channels and through other retailers, and we’re thrilled to be able to support them on the platform in new and exciting ways.”
Expanding its ambition to be a shopping destination, YouTube announced that November 15-22, it will be hosting a Holiday Stream and Shop, described as “shoppable livestreams hosted by some of your favourite creators and brands, dropping special products and deals.”
Shopping hosts during the first week are The Merrell Twins, Donut Media, Gordon Ramsay, Patrick Starr, Jackie Aina, Manny MUA and MrBeast who all will be selling products having signed up for partners like Walmart, Samsung and Verizon.
The livestream will offer the normal livestream shopping features, interacting with the with creators-shopping hosts and users, contribute comments etc.
