More competition on home entertainment market
There is a stiff competition between streaming home entertainment services with giants like Netflix, HBO and Disney + and now CBS is re-branding its streaming service to be called Paramount +. After the CBS and Viacom tie-up, Paramount + will improve the earlier streaming service by adding more core content from Viacom, movies and young-audience TV channel Nickelodeon.
The company has said that with a blend of movies, TV shows and original programming, it aims to increase the subscriber base threefold and reach 65 million by the end of 2024.
Kelly Day, president of streaming and chief operating officer, ViacomCBS Networks International, says Paramount + will offer superior entertainment to a lower price than competitors “which is of importance both for consumers and distribution partners.”
