Playing football in the chatroom

Social audio chat Clubhouse announced an agreement with the US professional National Football League (NFL) that will broadcast via a range of Clubhouse chatrooms. It is the company’s first agreement with a major sports league for official programming.

In a statement, Clubhouse describes how the offer of audio football is organized:

“With Clubhouse’s highly interactive audio-based social platform, fans can drop in on the NFL’s rooms to follow the picks live as they’re announced, and listen in on discussions featuring key NFL figures – from athletes and coaches to network personalities. Fans also have the opportunity to join the conversation and be invited on stage by moderators to ask questions or share their reactions to the Draft.”

Clubhouse says that it already hosts a range of regular NFL-related rooms. NFL is very active on social media and has agreements with Snapchat, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook.

Clubhouse has informed that more than 300 000 Rooms are created in the app every day and that is soon will start testing its Android version. The chat was originally launched for iPhone only.
