TikTok overtaking both Google and Facebook in ranking
TikTok is the 2021 big winner according to Cloudflare’s annual rankings. The Chinese-owned TikTok.com overtook Google.com as the top domain ranking and also pushed down Facebook.com as the most popular social media destination measured by Internet traffic. However, measured by users, Facebook is still, by far, the largest.
Cloudflare is a US-based web infrastructure and website security company.
“Google.com (which includes Maps, Translate, Photos, Flights, Books, and News, among others) ended 2020 as the undefeated leader in our ranking — from September to December of last year it was always on top. Back then TikTok.com was only ranked #7 or #8”, Cloudflare says in a blog post noting that in late 2021, TikTok.com was the No 1.

TikTok overtook Facebook as the most popular social media website-domain in the ranking. TikTok got more Internet traffic in the ranking but that is not related to the number of unique users or visitors it gets per month. So, Facebook is, by far, the platform with more users worldwide.
