At least 30% of generative AI projects will have been abandoned by the end of 2025, due to poor data quality, inadequate risk controls, escalating costs or unclear business value, according to a report from marketing research firm Gartner. Financial reports from big tech companies the last few weeks have shown their giant investments in AI but markets have been hesitant looking for more proof that the huge investments will be profitable.
AI-assisted cybercrime has only begun. AI-assisted child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is a worrisome threat that will need close monitoring. Instances of AI-altered and completely artificial CSAM are growing challenges, not only in terms of the volume of CSAM in circulation, but also to identify the true identity of victims and offenders, according to a Europol report on key developments in cybercrime over the last year.
There are fewer women having leading roles in top films! Last year fewer girls and women had leading roles compared to 2022. The figure plummeted to 30%, on par with 2010 and a 14 percentage point decline from the year prior, according to a study by the US-based Inclusion Initiative at Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. The findings for all speaking characters show that little has changed for girls/women on screen in more than a decade and a half.
