Hybrid work creates a growing gap between bosses and staff, according to data from a Microsoft report. “The data makes clear that hybrid work has created a growing disconnect between employees and leaders”, the report says stressing disagreements about productivity.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi withdrew from a long-planned interview with CNN’s chief international anchor Christiane Amanpour at the UN General Assembly in New York after she declined a last-minute demand to wear a headscarf. The president’s action came after days of protests in Iran where a 22 year old woman died after having been detained by the police reportedly for not wearing her headscarf properly.

Social media’s popularity as a place where people often get news is falling but half of US adults get news at least sometimes from social media. 17% say they often get news that way, down from 23% in 2020 and 19% in 2021, according to a report from Pew Research Center. For those who regularly get news on social media, Facebook outpaces all other social media sites. 

Trust in news on social media, search engines, and messaging apps is consistently lower than trust in information in the news media more generally, according to a survey from the Reuters Institute. Half of respondents say they believe journalists try to manipulate audience to serve powerful politicians or care more about getting attention than reporting the facts,

Many social media platforms, dating apps and private groups online are being ‘hijacked’ by individuals involved in human trafficking for sexual or labour exploitation”, Europol said after what is described as the first EU-wide hackathon against trafficking. The action identified 30 online platforms attempting to lure Ukrainian refugees.
