Over 40% of large organizations worldwide will by 2027 use a combination of Web3, AR cloud and digital twins in metaverse-based projects aimed at increasing revenue, marketing and research firm Gartner predicts in a 10 top strategic technology trends.

Members of the European Parliament have demanded more EU ambition in cybersecurity and in protecting critical infrastructure. They argue that the recent sabotage of the Nord Stream gas link has revealed the fragility of the EU’s infrastructure, the Parliament reports. At a meeting with the Commission’s VP Margaritis Schinas, MEPs emphasised the danger of cyberattacks, pointing to cases impacting a shipping company in Denmark and the healthcare system in Ireland. 

A majority thinks advertising should be news organisations’ main income and only 17% say they can consider paying for news in the future. These are conclusions from a Gallup and Knight Foundation survey in the US. When readers hit a paywall, 48% report trying to access the information somewhere else for free. 28% move on to something else or a different news story. 

After months of discussions about how the streaming entertainment market will develop after the pandemic lock downs and increasing inflation, Netflix was back with a more optimistic development after reporting heavy loss of subscribers earlier this year. “After a challenging first half, we believe we’re on a path to reaccelerate growth”, the company writes in a letter to shareholders. 

Marketers are cautious but increasingly enthusiastic about investing in Advanced TV next year, according to a survey of 500 marketers and influencers in five European countries: UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. The survey was made in July by consultancy CoLab Media for video advertising technology firm FreeWheel.
