The report comes just days after Geoffrey Hinton and John Hopfield received the Nobel Prize in physics for their work on machine learning with Hinton having warned about the dangers of machines that could outsmart humans.
Growth is slowly returning to the global games market despite that global average playtime has been dropping since the first quarter of 2021 when so many were forced to stay at home because of the covid pandemic, a report from gaming data firm Newzoo shows. In 2024, the global games market will generate $187.7 billion, representing +2.1% year-on year growth. The total market will grow with a CAGR (2022-2027) of +3.1% and is expected to reach $213.3 billion in 2027.
Artificial intelligence tools are increasingly being used by media companies. But who owns these tools? Unwittingly, journalists and newsrooms using AI fact-checking tools may be working with biased companies that could compromise the integrity of their work, according to a study by Estonia-based think tank Media and Journalism Research Center. The study shows that of 100 AI tool companies only 33% are transparent, with 67% lacking critical data on ownership, finances, and other basic information.
