Microsoft launched Microsoft Start, a personalized news feed and collection of informational content that provides news from publishers based on interests that the user can tailor. It is available as a standalone website (available on Microsoft Edge and Google’s Chrome) and as a mobile app on android and iOS.

Poland’s Senate voted against a controversial media bill that critics say is meant to stop a US-owned anti-government TV station. The parliament’s lower house has earlier approved the law but the opposition has the majority in the Senate. The law will now go back to the lower house that has the final say. President Andrzej Duda has indicated that he could veto the bill.

A Californian court ruled that Apple’s App Store cannot stop developers from directing customers to third-party payment options. At the same time the court said it cannot ”ultimately conclude that Apple is a monopolist”. Epic Games, that had challenged the App Store’s payment rules, was not satisfied and said would appeal.

Women and minority-led businesses are still more likely to be closed because of the pandemic than the global average. 20% of women-led businesses were closed globally, compared to 16% of those led by men, according to Facebook’s new survey of the situation for small business

Publisher of recently closed pro-democracy Hong Kong newspaper Apple Daily, Next Digital, announced that it aims to go into liquidation. The board of directors resigned. The company is owned by businessman Jimmy Lai who was jailed after Apple Daily’s newsroom was raided by police.
