Elon Musk tweeted that his deal to buy Twitter “cannot move forward” unless Twitter proves its claims that less than 5% of accounts are fake or spam accounts. Referring to doubts about the number of fake accounts. Twitter said it was committed to completing the deal at the agreed price and terms “as promptly as practicable.”

73% of publishers say addressing post-pandemic declining web traffic is a focus this year. 63% predict video will be more important. 43% will focus on newsletters and 33% on podcasts. Social media is important with 83% stressing Instagram while only 20% think TikTok will be important, according to a global survey by London-based tech consultancy Echobox.

Twitter announced rules on how to treat tweets about crisis like the war in Ukraine. Tweets that are estimated to be misleading will not be removed but will show up with a warning. Users will be required to click through the warning notice to view the tweet.The content won’t be amplified or recommended across the service. Retweets, and Shares will be disabled, and the notice will link to more information about the company´s approach to crisis misinformation.

Four main reasons why people do not want to pay for news according to an interview study: price; sufficient freely available news; not wanting to commit oneself; delivery and technical issues. Services like Netflix and Spotify may create a rather exact price point in young people’s mind: the price of a shared Netflix or Spotify account.
