Musk’s Twitter deal on hold
Elon Musk once again surprised markets announcing, on Twitter of course, that his USD 44 billion Twitter deal is temporarily on hold. Musk said he is waiting for proof of that spam/fake Twitter accounts is less than 5% of the total number of registered users. The company has earlier said fake accounts during the Q1 accounted for fewer than 5% but later indicated that the number could be higher.
Twitter’s share price fell in pre-market trading and Musk later added a tweet saying he is “still committed to acquisition”. Sceptic analysts said this could be Musk´s attempt to renegotiate the final price to be paid or even backtrack.

Increased EU cybersecurity
The EU Commission said it welcomes the political agreement between the European Parliament and Council on the Directive on high common level of cybersecurity across the Union. ”With the agreement of NIS2, we modernise rules to secure more critical services for society and economy. We will complement this approach with the upcoming Cyber Resilience Act that will ensure that digital products are also more secure whenever they are used”, said Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton.
The Commission says to respond to increased exposure to cyber threats, the NIS 2 Directive now covers medium and large entities from more sectors that are critical for the economy and society. This includes providers of public electronic communications services, digital services, waste water and waste management, manufacturing of critical products, postal and courier services and public administration. It also covers more broadly the healthcare sector.

Get ready for the metaverse
“Leaders who shy away from the uncertainty of the metaverse will soon be operating in worlds defined by others, consultancy Accenture warns in a tech trend report stressing the business opportunities with the growing metaverse. The report says that over the next decade, we will witness a complete transformation of nearly every environment in which companies do business. “We’re entering a new landscape with no rules or expectations. It’s time to build and shape the worlds of tomorrow.”
“Businesses will find themselves on the front lines of establishing safety and defining the human experience in these worlds. Trust will be paramount; existing concerns around privacy, bias, fairness and human impact are sharpening as the line between people’s physical and digital lives blurs. Leading enterprises will shoulder the charge for building a responsible metaverse, and are setting the standards now.”
