
Ukrainian photographer killed covering Russian invasion
There are an increasing number of reports about civilian victims from the war in Ukraine and one of them is the sixth journalist known to have been killed while covering the war. Reuters reports that Maksim Levin, photographer, and videographer, working for Ukrainian news website LB.ua and a long-time contributor to Reuters, was killed while covering the Russian invasion.
His body was found in a village north of Kyiv on April 1, LB.ua reported, according to Reuters.
He was born 19081 and leaves behind his wife and four children.
Russian journalist Oksana Baulina was killed when she was covering Russian shelling of Kyiv where she was based working for Latvia-based independent website The Insider.
The first journalist known to be killed during the war in Ukraine was Yevheniy Sakun, a cameraman for LIVE TV. According to reports, a Russian airstrike on a TV tower in Antopol, Rivne region, killed 9 people and 9 more were injured. This was announced by the head of the Rivne OVA Vitaly Koval.
US reporter and documentary-maker Brent Renaud was, according to news reports, shot and killed at a checkpoint in Irpin, outside of Kyiv, in an attack that also injured US photographer Juan Arredondo.
A vehicle carrying a news team with the US broadcaster Fox News was attacked near the village of Horenka, outside Kyiv, killing cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski and Ukrainian journalist Oleksandra Kuvshynova and injuring correspondent Benjamin Hall.
