EA gaming stolen code up for sale
Gaming company Electronic Arts is the latest US company reporting a cyberattack. The company said it is investigating a data breach, where some of its game source code and tools were stolen. The loot was up for sale on several underground forums.
The company is behind titles as “Battlefield,” “Apex Legends” and “Madden NFL 21”. The company said it does not expect theft will have an impact on its games or business.
“No player data was accessed, and we have no reason to believe there is any risk to player privacy,” EA said in a statement.
“We are investigating a recent incident of intrusion into our network where a limited amount of game source code and related tools were stolen,” an EA spokesperson said in a statement.
According to news site Vice approximately 780 GB were stolen.
