Axel Springer is buying US news media Politico and Brussels-based Politico Europe. The deal includes buying tech news website Protocol from Politico founder Robert Allbritton who will continue as publisher of Politico and Protocol. US media said Springer paid around USD 1 billion but the parties have agreed not to publish the price.

Apple announced new rules for its App Store letting developers have more direct contact with customers and extending the limitation of smaller developers’ commissions to 15% instead of 30%.  Apple is expecting a court ruling in a case where game developer Epic Games has challenged the Apple Store’s payment rules. A South Korean parliamentary committee supported a law that would limit Apple’s and Google’s possibility to force developers to use the app stores’ payment system.

Big tech companies lined up with President Joe Biden to increase cyber security. Microsoft will invest USD 20 billion over five years to speed up its cyber security work, and make available USD 150 million in technical services to help federal, state and local governments to help keep their security systems up to date. Google said it would allocate USD10 billion to cybersecurity over the next five years.

Negative online reviews are considered as the biggest threat to a business reputation, Igniyte, a UK online reputation management consultancy. 84% of the managers said online reviews are important to the financial and reputation state of their business and 71% considered social posts the most damaging online content.

News photo agency European Pressphoto Agency is joining forces with technology-based Belgian legal company Permission Machine for a worldwide scan to find unlicensed use to the agency’s news photos.
