Meta is closing the face recognition system on Facebook People deleting more than a billion people’s individual facial recognition templates referring to societal concerns. “We need to weigh the positive use cases for facial recognition against growing societal concerns, especially as regulators have yet to provide clear rules”.

Yahoo stopped its service in mainland China referring to that the country has “increasingly challenging business and legal environment”. Microsoft-owned LinkedIn also recently announced that it is closing its normal service in China with a similar explanation.

Israel-based technology and spyware company NSO Group has been blacklisted by the US Department of Commerce by adding it to the Entity List for Malicious Cyber Activities. The company has been accused of selling phone-hacking software used to target politicians, activists and journalists.

Google indicated that it is now willing to pay publishers for showing more information in search results than just basics referring to that the EU-wide Copyright Directive is implemented in EU members´ national legislation. The company also said Google News after seven years will be re-introduced in Spain as the country is implementing the EU’s copyright directive.

Facebook is testing paid subscription services including for creators to make money through Facebook Groups with users paying fees for exclusive access to content or conversations within subgroups.
