Google announced a multi-year project to limit advertisers’ ability to track users and target advertising across its apps on Android-based phones. The action is an extension of Google’s earlier announced project to limit data tracking on its Chrome browser.
Microsoft launched its Advertising in 29 countries across Europe and Africa which means close to doubling the number of markets where it is available. “These 29 markets bring advertisers access to a new audience and enable them to reach consumers in 19 new languages”, Microsoft said.
Nick Clegg, former UK deputy prime minister who joined Facebook in 2018 as head of policy and communication, has been promoted to president of global affairs at Facebook’s owner Meta. He will be responsible for all policy issues globally and a member of the company’s top management.
Spotify bought two podcast technology companies, the advertising measurement service Podsight and the analytics platform Chartable, hoping to address two main issues limiting advertising spending, measurement and attribution.
51.7% of Netflix’s global staff are women, up from 48.7% in 2020, the company announced. 51.1% of directors and above are women. Of the 22 leaders in the company’s leadership team, ten (45.0%) are women.
Facebook News launched in France that has become a key market in Europe after earlier heated discussions between media and big tech companies. The company has signed agreements with more than 100 media outlets. French international news agency AFP`s subsidiary Media Services will be curating the content.
Only 6% of consumers are comfortable enough in their understanding of the metaverse to explain it to others, a Gartner survey showed. 35% had never heard of the metaverse. 58% of respondents had either heard of the metaverse but do not know what it means, or think they understand the metaverse but would struggle to explain it to someone else.
